Bacon Wrapped Air Fryer Chicken Recipe

Ingredients for Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Chicken

A handful of ingredients is all you will need for this bacon wrapped chicken recipe and most of them are pantry staples. You will need:

  • chicken- skinless boneless chicken breasts (sliced in half lengthwise) or chicken tenderloins can be used for this recipe
  • bacon
  • salt
  • pepper
  • paprika
  • chili powder
  • garlic powder

Once you have all your ingredients together, gather the equipment. All you will need is a cutting board, toothpicks and air fryer.

How to Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Step One: Preheat air fryer and prep chicken

First, preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees. Then, if using chicken breasts slice them in half lengthwise (remove any fat if necessary as well).

Step Two: Season chicken

In a small bowl, combine the spices and stir well to combine. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the chicken pieces.

Step Three: Wrap chicken in bacon

Then, wrap the chicken tenderloins or chicken breast slices in raw bacon. It will take 2-3 slices per piece chicken. Use 3 toothpicks per slice to secure the bacon to the chicken so it doesn’t come off while cooking.

Step Four: Add more seasoning and cook chicken

Sprinkle the remaining seasoning mixture over the bacon. Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick spray to keep the bacon from sticking and place bacon wrapped chicken in the air fryer basket. Be sure to give space between each piece and do not stack them on top of each other. If necessary cook in more than one batch.

Cook in the air fryer for 15-20 minutes depending on the size of your chicken pieces. Check chicken with an internal thermometer and cook until it reaches at least 165 degrees.

Once cooked through remove chicken from air fryer. Be sure to remove toothpicks before serving.

How to Store Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container. To reheat, cook in an air fryer at 375 degrees until heated through and bacon is crispy. You can also microwave to reheat but the bacon might not be as crispy.

How long should you cook chicken in an air fryer?

That completely depends on the kind of chicken and what recipe you are making. Regardless of those points chicken should always be cooked until it reaches and internal temperature of 165 degrees to avoid any potential food poisoning.

Can I layer chicken in an air fryer?

For some recipes, yes. However with this recipe you will want to make sure to cook the chicken in a single layer. This will allow the chicken to cook faster and for the bacon to be crispy when the chicken is done cooking. Regardless of the recipe always use a meat thermometer and make sure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

I don’t have an air fryer, can I make this recipe another way?

Yes, go ahead and bake this recipe instead. Be sure to follow the directions for preparation including using the toothpicks to secure the bacon and then bake at 375 degrees or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
