Ingredients for Dairy-Free Queso with Ground Chicken

Four simple ingredients are all you need for this recipe and more than likely you buy these already. Here’s what you will need:

  • Ground chicken (can substitute ground beef, turkey or a vegan meat substitute if preferred!)
  • Taco seasoning
  • Salsa- whichever brand and heat level is your favorite.
  • Dairy-free cream cheese- use your favorite brand. I tend to buy Violife or Trader Joe’s the most.

Cooking Directions

To start, pick out a pot or pan that will be big enough to hold all of the ingredients together. I used a small sauce pan. Then, over medium heat, cook the ground chicken until cooked through.

Next, add the taco seasoning, salsa and dairy-free cream cheese. Cook until cream cheese is melted thoroughly and all ingredients are combined well.

Serve with chips and/ or vegetables for dipping. This queso would also be great to serve with tacos.

I’m not dairy-free, can I make this recipe with regular cream cheese?

Yes! Go ahead and use the same amount of regular cream cheese and cook the same way.

How long is this queso good for?

Let any leftover queso cool completely then store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Be sure to reheat the queso thoroughly before eating.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 8 oz dairy-free cream cheese

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan or pot (that will hold all of the ingredients), over medium heat cook ground chicken until cooked through.
  2. Once chicken is completely cooked, add taco seasoning, salsa and dairy-free cream cheese to pot.
  3. Continue to cook over medium heat until cream cheese is melted and all ingredients are combined thoroughly.
  4. Remove from heat and serve queso with chips or as desired.

Notes

If you do not need this recipe to be dairy-free you can use regular cream cheese.
