How to Make Crock Pot Beef and Beer
The first step to make this recipe is to make the spice rub for the beef. This spice rub will give the beef a ton of flavor and is made of common spices. You will need:
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- cayenne pepper
- salt
- pepper
Combine all of the spices together. Then, if neccessary trim any really large pieces of fat off of the beef. Rub the spice rub all over the beef making sure to coat all sides. Place the beef in the crock pot and pour in a can of beer.
Cook the beef on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6. This will depend on how thick the cut of beef is. Check it at the shorter times and determine if it needs longer based on the tenderness of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
The best two options are top round roast or chuck roast. Both cuts have lots of marbled fat that breakdown well in the crock pot and keep the meat tender.
This can depend on the size of your cut. I recommend 4-6 hours on high or 8-10 hours on low. Check on the shorter end and see how tender the piece of meat is. If it is not tender yet, continue cooking. I recommend cooking on low over high as well because the slower approach yields a more tender piece of beef.
We used a pale ale however any mild tasting beer you enjoy will work well for this recipe.
