This Easy Homemade Pasta Carbonara is a delicious and quick meal for all pasta lovers. It will be ready in under 30 minutes. Pasta Carbonara is one of my favorite pasta dishes to order at Italian restaurants.

Ingredients for Easy Homemade Pasta Carbonara

This recipe does not require any fancy ingredients which is another reason why we love it! You will need:

  • Spaghetti- your favorite brand!
  • Butter- unsalted is best so you can adjust the seasoning on your own.
  • Bacon, Canadian Bacon, Ham or Pancetta
  • Eggs
  • Salt and pepper
  • Grated parmesan cheese

Can you make pasta carbonara with different pasta?

Okay… so you absolutely could, however this sauce coats spaghetti so perfectly that you may be disappointed if you use a different shape of pasta. That being said, if not having spaghetti is the only thing stopping you from making this recipe go ahead and use a different shape pasta!

Easy Homemade Pasta Carbonara

Yield: 4- 6 servings

This Easy Homemade Pasta Carbonara is perfect for a weeknight meal and is ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 pound bacon, Canadian bacon, ham or pancetta
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • dash of salt
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup reserved hot pasta water

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  2. Cut the bacon into small pieces.
  3. In a small skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add bacon and cook thoroughly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, pepper and salt together.
  5. Grease a large mixing bowl with remaining tablespoon of butter.
  6. Before draining pasta, scoop out 1/4 cup of water. Set aside and save for later.
  7. Drain the pasta and add to the greased bowl.
  8. Add bacon and toss to combine.
  9. Slowly add the egg mixture and stir well. Continue stirring while adding so that the eggs do not scramble.
  10. Add cheese and stir well. If desired, add reserved pasta water to adjust consistency. It should be nice and creamy and coating all of the pasta evenly.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

This pasta dish is best served immediately.
