Fried plantains are one of my favorite foods to order at Mexican restaurants. There is something about the sweet and salty combination that just gets me.
I made these for lunch the other day and had them with rice and beans… it was delicious. You only need 3 ingredients for this recipe: plantains, vegetable oil, and salt.

How to make Fried Plantains
Make sure to buy plantains that are covered with spots and look super ripe. Cut each end of the plantain and peel the plantain. Cut the plantains into 5 or 6 pieces. Heat your oil in a pot or cast iron pan over medium heat.
Add the plantains into the oil one at a time. The oil should sizzle when you add the plantains in. If the oil is not hot enough it won’t sizzle.
Turn the plantains every 30 seconds or so until they are dark golden brown on all sides. Remove from pan and let cool slightly on paper towels on a plate. Sprinkle lightly with salt and serve!
