Ingredients for Homemade Vegan Salted Hot Chocolate
All you need for this easy vegan hot chocolate recipe is 5 simple ingredients! You most likely have them all on hand as well:
- Your favorite non-dairy milk (almond milk, soy milk, cashew milk, oat milk- any plant-based milk or non-dairy milk will work)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Dairy-free chocolate chips (Hu Chocolate or Enjoy Life are my go to brands)- you can also use any dairy-free dark chocolate bar if you chop it finely.
- Sugar in the raw- coconut sugar or granulated sugar will also work
- Sea salt
If you do not need to be dairy-free then you can use regular milk and any chocolate chips for this recipe! The amount of sugar used will depend on if your milk is sweetened or unsweetened. See the recipe card at the bottom of this post for the full recipe.

How to Make Vegan Hot Chocolate
To make this vegan hot cocoa, first grab your favorite microwave-safe mug. Add the milk and microwave for about 1 minute and 20 seconds. Remove the mug from the microwave and add the rest of the ingredients.
Use a whisk to stir them in well. Next, return the mug to the microwave for another 60 seconds. Then, stir again and enjoy! If desired, top with vegan whip cream or marshmallows.
